Interesting new twist...

I am not sure how I feel exactly...I enjoyed the story's premise and love the emerging lead character's journey so far. But, I wanted more, something other than a "safely" written story. I want the characters to take risks, because that is how they are written. But, it was just even paced through out. Nothing more...Nothing less!
I will purchase the second book "Broken Wings" and hope that things pick up and the characters develop...I am optimistic and believe that this could become a great little series.

*$4.99 was too much money for this story...it is very short, I would try to borrow it :)

Sometimes when you pick through a pile of uncertainties you find a treasure. Every now and then, you find a
beautiful cover on a book, secretly hoping the inside holds the promise of the beauty you see. This book made
me realize why I love books and why reading ignites a passion in me!

This book made me fall in love with reading again..words written with flawless perfection page after page. I
loved the characters she gives us. Her book is like a great recipe. Everything is perfectly measure out. You
do not get too much or too less. Just perfect!

Next year when I am announcing my 2013 favorites, this book will definitely be on that list. Thank you Cameo for
bringing me out of my readers block.

Emma loses everything, everything she loves is gone. She is swept away to Alaska to stay with her Aunt. Once
she is there, she finds herself surrounded by hotties. You will love Emma! She may have lost so much. However she
is soon to gain a lot more. As in the sweet lovable Kade, Emma's escort. We also have the hot Guardians Alex,
Malachi, Thomas, James and Dom... swoon. Yes I said swoon! Sadly we will come across darklings and angels. Good and bad! (No religious debates here peeps) This book is only contains a wonderful and brilliant story. We have romance and bonding. Then next add the action...humor and excitement. It has everything
you need. This will be a book that every YA and MA will be reading and sharing with friends. My advice read this book, today... Now. It's a fabulously beautiful story that I assure you just happens to be worth getting lost in. Thank you Cameo... You have broken my readers block within your beautiful pages.

The only thing I had a hard time with is the ending!!! Only because I was so engrossed, I did NOT want it to end. Get ready Cameo Renae, because I will be following you around like a little lost puppy till you produce the next book!

Awesome YA Angel Fantasy

NO! That is what I actually cried, out loud, at 3 am when I finished this book. Cameo, Cameo, Cameo! How could you do this to me?

I was so excited to be invited to read Cameo Renae's new book, Hidden Wings.I loved her debut book, In My Dreams. When you write an excellent book your first time out, it can be difficult to follow it up. Hidden Wings surpassed In My Dreams. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. I am in awe of Cameo Renae's talent.

Emma is 17. She wakes up in the hospital to find her entire world turned upside down. Both of her parents died in the accident that put her in the hospital, custody has been granted to an aunt she did not know existed, she is moving to Alaska (a good thing but I am biased about that) and leaving behind, in California, her two best friends. Escorts come to get her for the trip to Ak and she is attacked by Darklings, creatures she did know existed, in the SeaTac airport. Then she finds out they have been sent to kill her. Talk about a bad day! That is just the beginning. There is so much action packed into this book that I found myself having to take small breaks just to breathe! There is also a bit of romance in this awesome fantasy. The cliffhanger will absolutely leave you wanting more.

Cameo has done a terrific job with her writing. You get to know her characters and they become your friends. I was able to envision the fight scenes and the settings were vividly written.

The book contains mild swearing but it is only once that I can recall. There are no scenes of a sexual nature. The romance written is suitable for teens. I highly recommend this book to all fans of YA fantasy

Satisfying read with one irksome problem

For a debut novel, this is more than a satisfying read and though, at first, I had a bit of a hard time warming up to the character and the premise, I ultimately became sympathetic towards both. The plot revolves around a child serial killer who has a penchant for dressing up his victims as elaborate life-size dolls and CeeCee Gallagher, the police officer determined to track him down at all costs, irrespective of the harm her actions may cause to all those involved, including herself. It's definitely a fast paced read and those who enjoy a thriller that doesn't wallow in graphic, gory and/or disturbing details, will find themselves immersed in the story. For me, however, the whole sub-plot regarding CeeCee's personal life and her ongoing love affair with an FBI agent and her husband's alleged dalliances with his new female partner, proved a major distraction. I'm sure Dittrich meant it to be a device by which the reader could become more involved and familiar with the protagonist and in a few instances it actually did serve as a mechanism that exacerbated the killer's personal contempt for CeeCee thereby propelling the narrative forward, but for the most part I found that the novel came to a complete and grinding halt every time it was pushed to the forefront. I found myself gnashing my teeth whenever the actual plot was pushed aside in favor of the romantic entanglements and familial drama. But again, for a debut novel, it's more than enjoyable with a gripping conclusion. The killer is reliably creepy and a loose enough canon to inspire fear, especially as he slowly starts loosing his grip on reality and the most volatile aspects of his psyche surface. If it weren't for the aforementioned love "rectangle", I would have recommended this novel enthusiastically but it was too much of thorn in my side for me to do have done so. I look forward to reading her next novel as I'm sure she'll do away with all unnecessary subplots in the future. Well, I can only hope, anyway.

Pretty good story. However, I found the multiple love triangles to be distracting. In my opinion, they added little to the story. Three separate affairs going on in one department was unrealistic. Also unrealistic was the description of all the law enforcement individuals being devastatingly handsome, or beautiful.

I got about 20% through this book, after almost stopping twice. I'm not interested in the detectives personal life. I expected a mystery/crime novel not a soap opera.

What Trend Following can do for you.

I thought this was a very good read, especially for someone who is interested in the "Trend Following" style of trading. The details of the system the Turtles used was methodically thought out and used by Famed Trader Richard Dennis. What I Gleamed as Most important aspect of this book as well as any trading strategy is RISK /MONEY MANAGEMENT!!! I wish to thank Mr. Faith for sharing this Style and what the turtle's experienced using this strategy back in the 1980's when computers were still in their infancy for everyday people.

A Very Good Book - Depending on What You're After

If the term 'Turtles' has you scratching your head, then I will start by saying that they were a group of students brought together by legendary trader Richard Dennis (featured in Market Wizards) in the mid-1980s as part of an experiment to see if successful trading could be taught. Dennis and his partner William Eckhardt (featured in The New Market Wizards) selected two classes and taught them their trend following methodology, then provided each with trading capital and set them loose on the markets.

Way of the Turtle is less a history lesson about the Turtles (for that you can read The Complete Turtle Trader), and more a deeper discussion of the philosophy behind the trend following methodology Dennis and Eckhardt taught them and the implementation of that system. The Turtle system has been published in other formats and other places before now, but Faith does more than that in Way of the Turtle. He talks considerably about the requirements for successfully implementing the system and how easy it is to fail with it.

To my mind, Way of the Turtle is a book of three primary parts. One is a really interesting discussion of the psychology of traders and the markets. Another is a very thorough exploration of system development, testing, and performance measurement. The final part is specific discussions of the Turtles and their methods.

The issue some readers might have is the manner of presentation of the parts.

I personally found the chapters on system design, testing, and evalutation to be the most unified and consistently coherent of the book. They progress well and present some things that I have not previously seen in comparable discussions. I found Faith's coverage of the material to be an excellent advancement into somewhat more complex approaches for one who has a decent basic grounding. His discussion of the subject is, to my mind, a virtual must read for anyone look to develop and/or evaluate trading systems.

In terms of trader and market psychology, the early chapters of the book are an outstanding exposition on the different biases and mental states that we all go through as market participants in one fashion or another. It was this material, so plainly laid out, which got me very excited to be reading the book. It really is a fantastic look at the things we have in our heads which can create so much havoc in our trading, and Faith frequently cites examples of these things through the remainder of the book in talking about his and other Turtles' successes and failures trading their system.

It's in the third subject of the book where many readers may find it lacking. Way of the Turtle, as I noted at the outset, is not a history. While Faith does clearly deliniate the full Turtle system he spends relatively little time talking about the grand experiment which the Turtles were meant to be. Rather he provides views and opinions from his own perspective. Necessarily, that makes for a narrow scope. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. One just needs to realize that going in and be prepared to find it in little bits scattered throughout the text.

Here's the biggest rub - at least for someone expecting to come away with an immediately useful trading system. Even though the book does tell you exactly how the Turtle system worked, don't expect it to be something you can use yourself. It was specifically designed for use across an array of markets by traders with a large capital base. By that I mean hundreds of thousands of dollars, minimum. As such, the vast majority of readers will not be in a position to make use of it.

So it's a question of expectations. Are you looking to become a new Turtle and trade just like them? If so, you're probably going to be disappointed. If, however, you are looking to learn from the experience and education of someone who was there, who learned a great many lessons under the tutelage of a pair of legendary traders, then you will probably come away from reading Way of the Turtle quite satisfied.
